A 14-year-old boy died in Chikwawa on Sunday evening after being hit by a speeding minibus which immediately overturned, injuring all its passengers.
Marko Fredson met his fate while riding his bike just after Bereu Trading Centre around 6 p.m.
He was cycling towards the trading centre when he slammed into an oncoming Nissan Caravan minibus, registration number MH 542 which was being driven by James Daud, 35.
Following an impact, the minibus swerved to the far side, rolled several times and hit a tree, injuring its passengers in the process.
The injured were taken to Chikwawa District Hospital for treatment while Fredson was shifted to St. Montfort Hospital after sustaining severe head injuries.
He was pronounced dead on arrival.
Fredson came from Chambuluka village, Traditional Authority Maseya in Chikwawa District.
Meanwhile, the police are seriously warning motorists against excessive speeding as it often leads to fatalities; drivers must observe speed limits at all times.
