A well known social commentator, Humphreys Mvula has faulted the decision by Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) to suspend its employees over a power outage that interrupted President Peter Mutharika’s speech at Chancellor College in Zomba.

Last week Mutharika presided over a graduation ceremony at CHANCO in Zomba, as he was delivering his speech electricity went off for about 8 minutes, which forced him to temporarily stop delivering the speech.

Following the incident, at least 9 senior employees have been suspended.

In his remarks, Mvula said what happened is a reality of what is happening on the ground and the president should have the same feeling.
