Six Malawi police service traffic officers on Monday bravely abandoned their road traffic duties and gave chase to armed robbers in Liwonde.
The officers were operating a speed camera at Chidzanja on a snap road block….when suddenly they spotted a Toyota Ractis Blue in colour speeding at 93KM/Hr, when the officers attempted to stop it, it diverted into an earth road which leads to Mangochi.
After five minutes two workers from Mt Meru filling stations approached the 6 officers complaining that they were robbed money by unknown people using the car with the same description as the one that diverted to Mangochi.
Immediately the officers ceased their road traffic duties…and started chasing after the said vehicle.
Near Naliswe primary school they saw the car cruising ahead of them… The officers armed with only 10 fired into the air with their automatic rifle.
They intercepted the vehicle and arrested one criminal Steven Dominic and recovered cshs amounting to K2,399,460
Two criminals however escaped into the Bush as the officers had run out of ammunitions
