Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has embarked on organizing peace conference in order to prepare Malawians on the outcome of the landmark presidential elections case being heard at the Constitutional Court in Lilongwe.
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leader Lazarus Chakwera and United Transformation Movement (UTM) president Saulos Chilima are seeking nullification of the presidential poll results.
With the progress of the case at court, followers of all the concerned parties seem not to be ready to accept and welcome the outcome if court rules far from their exceptions hence MHRC move.
Executive Secretary for MHRC, David Nungu, during the conference, said the commission will engage political parties, civil society organization leaders and the media as well as traditional leaders on the importance of preserving peace regardless of the outcome of the case.
The Constitutional Court has however set December 6 as the deadline of hearing the case.
