A South African man has confessed to killing his own father and dumping the body alleging that he did that under the instructions of a prophet.

The 30-year-old from Khopo Village in Limpopo, apparently told his family he and his 50-year-old father had visited the prophet last Tuesday.

The man indicated the prophet had urged him to stab his father over reasons that have not yet been established.

The body was found by a passerby in the early hours of Wednesday.

“There was no blood on the scene,” said Mojapelo.

After the murder the body was kept in a car boot overnight before being dumped.

The family said the suspect told them he went to the prophet because he had marital problems.

The victim’s mum (71) said she wanted her grandson to pay for what he’d done.

“That boy was born here, but his late mother divorced his father when he was still a child,” she said.

“He only started visiting us recently. His father loved him.”

The victim was single and did piece jobs. The suspect was expected to appear in the Gravelotte Magistrates Court on Thursday.
