Lawyer representing the second petitioner in the on-going historic presidential election case Lazarus Chakwera, Mordecai Msiska, has said he believes that the witness for President Peter, Ben Phiri has failed to demonstrate his knowledge of the country’s electoral management system.

Msiska said this on Monday after finished cross examining Phiri who is Director of Elections for the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)

Msiska told reporters that from the evidence tendered in court, it is clear that Phiri was basing his evidence on hearsay and not facts.

According to Msiska, on several occasions Phiri had failed to demonstrate in court his knowledge of the electoral system as he kept referring to what he was told by some officials at Malawi Electoral Commission (ME)C and not what the law states.
