Classes have resumed at Blantyre Secondary School (BSS) after a temporary closure following riots that erupted at the school by students.

The protests were against alleged corrupt practices by the school’s administration in the enrollment of learners.

The students claimed that some joined the school through the back door hence causing congestion in classes and hostels.

They presented a petition to the district education manager, in which they included that bursaries for needy learners were also compromised.

BSS head teacher Hilda Gwauya said that learners who led the protests have been disciplined.
