27-year-old Malawian, Chimwemwe Kamkwamba, has been crowned Miss Deaf Africa, during the pageant that took place at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles (ICCS).

The Pageant was organized by the Association of People with Hearing Impairment (APHI) in collaboration with Berjaya Beau Bay resort.

The pageant aims at empowering young deaf women in the region to become role models to other deaf young women, and become driving force of positive change within their own home countries.
