Doctor turned actress, Kiki Omeili, has lamented that no security is provided for filmmakers when shooting movies.
The Anambra State-born actress said there had been cases where producers were attacked while shooting movies.
Omeili said this in an interview with Sunday Scoop.
She said, “When it comes to shooting movies, sadly, we don’t have any security. There are always too many cases of producers crying out on social media about how people have attacked them and are not allowing them to film. Sometimes, they post videos and pictures of how some of their crew members got injured. I don’t think it’s very nice.
“I don’t think the government is doing enough to support Nollywood. We are supposed to have security and assurance that we can film wherever. As a matter of fact, we shouldn’t ordinarily have any business filming on the road, if we had a film village. If such things were provided, we would not have any reason to come out and face these challenges. We do what we do for the Lord and try to keep ourselves safe as best as we can.”
Asked how she had been able to remain in the industry without scandals, she said, “I am a peaceful person and I keep my private life private. I just mind my business.”
While some thespians appear in many movies to increase their popularity, Kiki is particular about the quality of movies she appears in.
“If someone is going to take out time to watch your film, then they should be entertained. They should understand what your film is all about. They should not be left confused, wondering why they wasted their time. I am particular about the kind of project I get on, especially if the story is good.”
