In Zimbabwe – A man has been charged with abducting a police officer.
Gordon Ochieng yesterday denied abducting police sergeant Godfrey Itur in Kisumu town on November 30 with the intention of harming him.
He also faced charges of inciting the public to violence, causing malicious damage to a police vehicle and blocking other road users from using the Kisumu-Kakamega road.
Ochieng reportedly told the public at Jua Kali area to stone and burn police officers who wanted to arrest him.
“With others not before the court, he willfully and unlawfully damaged a Toyota Land Cruiser, white in colour, the property of the National Police Service,” the charge sheet read.
Ochieng denied the charges and was released on a bond of Sh100,000.
The case will be mentioned on December 6 and heard on January 9, 2020.
