A video has emerged showing world leaders reportedly talking behind President Donald Trump’s back at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Summit, the New York Times has reported.
The leaders of the United Kingdom (UK), Canada, and France were seen talking in hushed tones about the United States president’s unusual behaviour.
They did not seem to be aware that they were being recorded.
Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appeared particularly displeased by Trump’s behaviour on the first day of the summit which is being held in London.
“He was late because he takes a 40-minute press conference at the top,” the Canadian prime minister told British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron.
“You just watch his team’s jaws drop to the floor,” he added as quoted by the Washington Examiner.
Even though Trump was never mentioned by name, media reports reached the conclusion that it was the US president who was the subject of the conversation.
Mr Trump had an off the cuff press conference on Tuesday that lasted for 50 minutes and could be what the leaders were referring in their animated conversation.
World leaders were invited by UK’s queen to the Buckingham Palace to commemorate 70 years of NATO’s existence according to the Guardian newspaper.
