The graft-bursting body, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Road Traffic Assistant for allegedly receiving bribes from a transport operator at Mwanza border.
According to the body, the arrest has been made following a complaint it received in July this year over allegations that at the border, the officers have been receiving the bribes to issue cross border permits for buses ferrying passengers to South Africa at Mwanza border.
Yesterday, the ACB arrested Dyson Mchenga for receiving K300, 000 from an agent of South African registered Dijamu 850 coaches.
Mchenga will be taken to court to be informed about the charges after the recording of a statement from him.
The bureau has since warned all public officers against soliciting and receiving payments for services which are supposed to be offered for free.
