A newborn girl died after she was allegedly thrown off a high-rise building in Mumbai on Thursday.

The girl was thrown off from a 21-storey building in Kandivali, Mumbai. The building was constructed under a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) scheme in Lalji Pada.

The person who threw the newborn has not been identified yet. A police officer familiar with the case said that the infant was thrown from the bathroom window of one of the floors of Jai Bharat Complex.

According to the preliminary investigation, the minor girl was thrown out of the window just hours after her birth. A report by news agency PTI stated that the umbilical cord of the baby was sticking out.

The incident came to light after the watchman of the building saw the body and informed the police.
