The trial of murder suspect Misonzi Chanthunya is expected to start this morning at the High Court sitting.

Meanwhile, the court is expected to assign anew judge to hear the case as Judge Chifundo Kachale, who was initially assigned to the case, is reportedly committed with other business.

Chanthunya is currently on Supreme Court bail pending the hearing.

He was arrested by the Interpol in South Africas town of Rustenburg in 2012 after spending two years as a fugitive following the alleged murder of Linda Gasa, a Zimbabwean national.

Gasa’s body was found buried under Chanthunya’s family private cottage in Monkey Bay.

Pilirani Masanjala, Public Relation Officer for the Ministry of Justice said the court set 11th to 13th December 2019 as trial dates for the high-profile murder case.
