Two sisters and a four-year old daughter have been killed by lightning in Chikwawa while returning home from a garden.
The three–Maria Zuze, 27, Falesi Balankinyu, 35, and her daughter, Mphatso Antonio were struck dead Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at Mpinganjila village under Senior Chief Ngabu.
The sisters–and a daughter–had gone out to farm at a dambo (garden) when rainfall accompanied by storm hit the area.
They immediately set off home before a lightning’s strike shortly after, killing them instantly.
The bodies were rushed to Ngabu Rural Hospital where postmortem showed the deaths were due to electrocution.
Police advise the public to stay indoors or avoid sheltering under isolated trees when it’s raining.
