A Malawian of Asian origin has surrendered half of his 550 hectares of land to the government of Malawi.

The past month the country has seen revelations of how enormous government land was sold without proper documentation with the highlight being the encroachment of Livimbo schools by Asian businesspersons.

Ministry of Lands Communication Officer, Charles Vintulla has said that Muhammad Diab, a Malawian of Asian origin has surrendered half of 550 hectares of land which he procured from Lilongwe District council in 2005.

According to Vintulla the land is located along Lilongwe river near Malangalanga which also forms part Lilongwe Water Board’s catchment area.
