United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Dr. Saulos Chilima has pulled out of the ongoing peace talks organized by the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) aimed at finding lasting solutions to the political tension in the country.
This was revealed on Thursday when Chilima and some of UTM top official met PAC at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in the capital Lilongwe.
Chilima openly said he finds no basis to engage President Professor Arthur Mutharika when Malawi Electoral Commission Chairperson Jane Ansah has not resigned yet.
He then hinted that he will proceed with peace talks with PAC once the court delivers its ruling on the matter.
Chilima and Malawi Congress Party leader Lazarus Chakwera petitioned the court seeking nullification of the May 21 polls results- in which Mutharika was declared a winner arguing that the whole results management was marred by irregularities.
Court has since concluded hearing the case.
