Kane Tanaka, the world’s oldest woman, has surpassed her own record as she celebrated her 117th birthday at a nursing home in Fukuoka in southern Japan.

According to Daily Mail, she marked her birthday with a party on Sunday, January 5, in the presence of staff and friends at the home.

It should, however, be noted that Tanaka’s birthday was on Thursday, January 2. During the birthday celebration, the centenarian ate a slice from her cake.

Tanaka commented on the tastiness of her birthday cake, saying she wants more. Photo source:

She said “tasty, I want some more” with a broad smile on her face. Tanaka got the Guinness World Records confirmation as the oldest person in 2018.

Flowers’ resident experience manager, Helene Ballinger, explained that the centenarian who is the oldest inhabitant at the home can credit her longevity to drinking champagne.
