Death has been announced of Deputy Vice Chancellor for Mzuzu University (MZUNI) Professor Fred Msiska, Faceofmalawi can reveal.

According to the statement seen by FOM’s, Msiska died while to Blantyre where he was expected to receive special treatment at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital.

Writing on his official facebook page, former Minister of Justice Ralph Kasambara expressed shock over the death of Msiska.

“Our sincere condolences to the Msiska clan, Mzuzu Golf Club, Mzuzu University community on loss of the Mzuni Deputy Vice Chancellor and academic par excellence, Professor Fred Jennings Wanyavinkhumbo Msiska.

“Prof Fred Msiska touched so many lives at Chancellor College where he taught for many years before joining Mzuni. He had an exceptional command of the English language and made his lectures interesting by both his body movements and language. A passionate educator and social activist,” wrote Kasambara.

He added: “We thank God for the gift of his life and the opportunity to have mixed with him both academically at Chancellor College and socially at Mzuzu Golf Club.”

Msiska joined Mzuni in 2007 as Director of the Centre for Open and Distance Learning.
