Malawi Police Service (MPS) has said it will not dismiss or suspend officers who were deployed to Nsundwe and M’bwatalika on the day women and girls were sexually assaulted.

According to police, they are only following the law.

Speaking during a press briefing at Police headquarters in Lilongwe, Deputy Inspector General of police John Nyondo said if evidence shows the officers had assaulted the women the service will move to act.

Nyondo has since said that investigations are still going underway adding that a team of investigators are interrogating the suspects to get the truth of the matter.

Meanwhile, Nyondo has dismissed viral reports that investigators are harassing the witnesses.
