President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has expressed shock over the death of former Inspector General of the Malawi Police Service Paul Kanyama and Mzuzu University Vice Chancellor Professor Fred Msiska.
Kanyama died on Tuesday morning at Daeyang hospital in Lilongwe while Professor Msika died on Monday while on his way to Mwaiwathu Private Hospital for special treatment.
According to the statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) seen by Faceofmalawi, the President is deeply sudden with the death of the two.
The President has since directed that Minister of Education Science and Technology William Susuwele Banda should represent him at the burial ceremony of Professor Msiska scheduled to take place on 8th January in Karonga while Minister of Homeland Security Nicholus Dausi will represent the President on the burial of Kachama on 9th January at area 18 cemetery in Lilongwe.
The President has also expressed shock over the death of Mrs Flora Kafuwa, wife to Lieutenant General Clement Kafuwa retired. She passed away on 6th January 2020. She will be laid to rest on 8th January at Lunzu Blantyre.
