Demonstrations that are underway in Lilongwe being led by Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) have turned violent as the protesters have stoned Cleolive International Building near Lilongwe Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP).
Commenting on the development, Cleolive International Building manager Davie Msundwe said the protesters were pelting stones at the building leaving out broken glasses.
Earlier, when they started off their journey on their way to police headquarters in area 30 to present their petition, the protesters were also spotted provoking armored police officers at their C. Company base by pelting stones on them.
The demonstrations organised by HRDC are meant to force the police to arrest its officers alleged to have raped women and defiled girls at Mpingu and M’bwatalika in October.
