One of the country’s nongovernmental organisations, Centre for Democracy and Economic Development (Cidedi) has hailed Judges presiding over the Presidential case for rejecting a bribe from unknown people.

On Sunday, the media was awash with reports that some unknown people attempted to bribe a panel of five judges hearing the Presidential polls case.

This forced Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda to report the matter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for investigations.

ACB Director Reyneck Matemba confirmed receiving a written complaint from the Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda, saying body has started following up the matter.

Speaking in an interview with the press Cidedi Acting Executive Director, Sylvester Namiwa hailed the Judges for rejecting the bribe.

Namiwa, has since urged the ACB to arrest the culprits.

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM) are seeking nullification of the May 21, 2019 polls which saw President Peter Mutharika of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) being declared winner.
