Saturday afternoon was a day to remember for people of Lilongwe South Constituents as the World Muslim League donated 1,000 bags of maize flour to them after a request from the area’s DPP shadow Member of Parliament (MP) Frank Mazizi.
Moosa Mkhize, who officially made the donation, said they responded to the call having noticed the challenges the people were facing.
Mazizi described the donation that was sought through Vice President Rt. Hon. Everton Herbert Chimulirenji as timely that will go a long way in lessening the pangs of hunger his people were facing.
Mazizi told the people that politics ended on 21st May 2019 saying now is the time for development and serving the people.
On his part, Traditional Authority Masambankhunda, thanked Mazizi for seeking the donation that would go a long way in alleviating the hunger pains that people were facing.
Meanwhile, the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) says the Malawi Vulnerability Assessment Committee conducted update assessment on food situation which indicated that 1,879,000 people are food insecure. The initial MVAC report indicated that 1,060,000 people were at risk of being food insecure.
Recently Vice President Chimulirenji has reiterated the call that mo one will die of hunger as stated by President Mutharika.
