US – The United States of America House of Representatives on Wednesday voted along party lines to send the two impeachment articles against President Donald Trump to the Senate.
The House of Representatives also appointed seven Democrats to become the impeachment managers during the prosecution of President Trump in the Senate.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced to the public that the resolution to submit the articles of impeachment to the Senate had been passed.
“Today we will make history. When the managers walk down the hall, we will cross a threshold in history – delivering articles of impeachment against the president of the United States for abuse of power and obstruction of the House, ” Pelosi said at a press conference.
Trump was impeached on December 18, 2020, after an investigation found that he tried to exert pressure on the Ukrainian government to investigate his possible political rival in the presidential election Joe Biden.
He has strongly denied the charges leveled against him saying that the impeachment process is a witch-hunt initiated by the Democrats.
It is unlikely that the president will be removed from power as the Senate is controlled by the Republicans.
