Senior Chief Ngabu of Chikwawa who was fired by President Peter Mutharika has vowed to seek legal clarification on the matter as he is still refusing to accept his dismissal.
The chief whose real name is Noah Dalasi Chisafali Ngabu, was fired last year due to what Mutharika called misconduct towards his subjects.
“I, Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi, pursuant to powers vested in me by chapter 22:03, part 1, section 11(b) and 9(c) of the chiefs Act, do hereby remove you Noah Dalasi Chisafali Ngabu from exercising the functions of Senior Chief Ngabu of Chikwawa District.
“[This is] with immediate effect due to recommendations arising from the commission of inquiry conducted in August 2019 into your alleged misconduct towards your subjects under your jurisdiction,” the letter reads.
According to the fired chief, he still remains shocked by the president’s decision ad wants to take legal explanation before further reaction.
In June last year, some concerned subjects under Ngabu area marched to Chikwawa District Commissioner’s (DC’s) office where they presented a petition which among others they accused him of being corrupt.
