The High Court in Blantyre is reviewing files from the Zomba Magistrate Court to determine whether business tycoon Thomson Mpinganjira should be rearrested.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Mpinganjira on Wednesday and he was taken to Blantyre Police Station awaiting court appearance yesterday.
The FDH Holdings CEO was detained over his alleged involvement in attempts to bribe elections case judges.
However, a magistrate court in Zomba ordered his release at midnight.
The development has attracted widespread debate on social media and among the legal fraternity.
