A 25-year old woman in Nsanje has commited suicide in her sorghum field.
The deceased, Memory Makani, of Chimbamera village, Traditional Authority Ngabu in Chikwawa, was found hanging on Sunday.
According to the deceased brother, Edward Chizeka, Memory, in 2008, got married to Makani Mose of Mwasalapa village under T/A Tengani.
Since the two had never had a child, the husband sought another wife, a thing which displeased the first wife.
On Saturday, the couple went to the field and returned home later in the day.
The wife, however, left home to a destination the husband was not aware of.
She was since never heard of until Sunday when she was discovered hanging in her garden.
Police took the body to Tengani Health Centre where it was established that the death was due to strangulation.
No foul play has since suspected.
Meanwhile, police in the district call on the public to report family disputes to the police or any authorities rather than committing suicide.
