Government has quashed social media reports that there is an order for people to leave the streets earlier as the country awaits the verdict of the high profile electoral case.
This comes as the ruling nears and following the disclosure by the courts that the ruling will be made between 27th January and 3rd February 2020.
The social media has been awash with reports that law enforcers have made a decree that people get out of the streets before 6 p.m.
But in an interview, Information Minister, Mark Bottomani has rubbished the reports describing them as mere speculations.
‘’The police and the army have not made any directives of such sort. They are well capable of handling the situation and people should not lose trust in them,’’ said Bottomani.
The Constitutional Court is slated to make a ruling in a case in which UTM leader Saulos Chilima and Malawi Congress Party leader Lazarus Chakwera petitioned the court -seeking nullification of the May 21 polls results- in which Mutharika was declared a winner arguing that the whole results management was marred by irregularities.
