India – In a shocking incident, a pub employee in Bengaluru was allegedly caught filming a woman customer in the toilet. The incident took place at a pub on McGrath Road on January 24 when the woman went to use the toilet.

The 30-year-old accused identified as Buddhikant Debnath, a resident of Odisha, has now been arrested by the police.

According to a reports, the accused has confessed to filming the woman using his mobile phone. Debnath had joined the pub just three months ago. The accused has been sent to Central Prison after he was produced in a local court.

According to a police officer, no video was found on Debnath’s phone as he must have deleted it.

In her complaint, the 34-year-old woman, who works in a private firm said, “I was in the washroom as looked up for some reason. I saw a hand carrying a mobile phone and recording me in the toilet. I immediately shouted for help. Another woman who was standing beside me also screamed after seeing the man. She said the man was wearing the pub’s uniform.”

The victim also alleged that the pub’s manager ignored her complaint when she informed him about the pub staff’s misdeed.

“We had identified the man. When we confronted the accused, he apologised and was sorry for his misconduct. Later, we approached the pub manager and requested him to share the CCTV video of the staff fleeing the washroom. But he refused to cooperate and share the footage,” the victim added. 

Meanwhile, the pub management has reacted to the incident saying they don’t tolerate indiscipline.

In a statement, the pub management said, “It is our responsibility to ensure the safety and security of customers and women at the pub. We will not tolerate any misconduct towards the customers at the premises. We are also making efforts that such incidents do not repeat in the future.”   

The pub management later said that the errant staff has been dismissed from the service and was handed over to the police.
