Rumphi District Police are keeping in Custody Dickson Simkonda 33 and Frank Mkandawire 47 in allegations of breaking into a Chinese shop and stole assorted items.

According to reports,the arrest of the two notorious criminals occurred during the night of February 3, 2020 at Rumphi Trading center.

It said that the two have been charged with breaking into a building and committing a felony therein.

File compiled at Rumphi police station indicates that Laeh Nthala, a shop manager at Kaibin shop received a phone call from her watchman that the said shop had been broken into by unknown criminals.

The matter was reported to police who rushed to the scene and observed that entry was gained through a drilled hole at the rear side of the shop.

Later, well wishers tipped off the police about the two seen packing shoes in a sack bag.

Immediately a follow up was made leading to their arrest.

Furthemore, assorted items whose value is not yet established were recovered.

These include;100 pairs of shoes, 2 bales of skirts, a bale of trousers and 2 pairs of hand cuffs among others.

The two will appear in court soon.

Dickson Simkonda comes from Ipenza village, senior chief Mwaulambia in Chitipa district whereas Frank Mkandawire comes from Mlowe village, traditional authority Mwamlowe, in Rumphi district.
