Ras David Chikomeni Chirwa has said he will again contest as an independent presidential candidate in the forthcoming fresh election scheduled to be conducted within a period of 150 days.

The Constitutional Court on Monday last week nullified the May 21 Presidential polls and called for fresh elections within a period of 150 days.

Due to the nullification of the results, political party leaders in the country have started preparing for the fresh elections.

Speaking in an interview with the press Chikomeni Chirwa has said he will contest in the fresh polls.

Chirwa also hinted that he will maintain his mother as his running mate.

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) disqualified Chikomeni Chirwa in the May 2019 presidential poll for his failure to pay a deposit of two million kwacha among others.

Chirwa also failed to collect 10 signatures of nominees in 10 districts of the country.
