United Transformation Movement (UTM has endorsed the upcoming demonstrations by the Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) on Thursday across the country.
UTM publicist Joseph Chidanti Malunga confirmed saying all they want is to see their demands being met.
According to Malunga, they totally support HRDC planned demonstrations considering for a fact that Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Jane Ansah said she would resign if the court found her wrong.
“With or without PAC inquiry we support the demonstrations because the MEC chair said she would resign if found in the wrong by the Court. The Court has found MEC in the wrong why is she not resigning?” Malunga said.
Ansah has been receiving resignation calls from various stakeholders aftermath of May 21, 2019 tripartite elections on the allegations that she failed to manage the polls which were marred with serious irregularities.
After the Constitutional Court exposed the incompetence of the electoral body, Malawians expected to see Ansah out of office as she promised prior to the judgment which she did not hence HRDC’s move to shut down MEC offices in a quest to foce her out of office.
