State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima who is also founder and President of United Transformation Movement (UTM) is celebrating his 47th birthday while at the Supreme Court of Appeal in the capital Lilongwe.

Last week, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, the first respondent and the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), the second respondent in the Presidential Election case appealed the Constitutional Court ruling nullifying the May 21 polls.

Mutharika and MEC also applied for an injunction stopping the execution of the ruling made by the court on February 3, 2020 and the Supreme Court of Appeal set Wednesday 12, 2020 as a day for Interparty hearing.

Instead of being at home celebrating his birthday, Chilima who was the first petitioner in the case is at the court with his lawyers.
Chilima arrived at the court together with some UTM top officials.

Meanwhile a panel of five Judges led by Healey Potani has started hearing submission from concerned parties in the case.
