Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) has announced that starting form today the country will be experiencing 4 hours of load shedding.

In a statement, ESCOM attributes the extended load shedding hours to the maintenance of machines at Kapichira Power Station by EGENCO.

ESCOM also reveals that EGENCO diesel generators at Mapanga and Kanengo are not functioning hence contributing to the load shedding.

However, ESCOM is assuring the public that AGGREKO emergency diesel generators are running to minimize the impact of the shortfall.

Meanwhile, ESCOM is working hand-in-hand with EGENCO to ensure that the problem is resolved in as soon as possible.
