A Zimbabwean man sustained life-threatening injuries after he was attacked by two suspected artisanal miners following an altercation over sex workers at a local sports bar.

The assailants who are on the run are reported to have used a knobkerrie fitted with nails during the attack. Reports indicates that Nhlanhla Tshuma was brutally assaulted by the armed men at Esazekasi Sports Bar last Sunday.

His brother, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he feared the assailants, furnished the publication with details of what allegedly transpired. He revealed that the suspected artisanal miners attacked Nhanhla using a knobkerrie fitted with nails on its head and a sharp bottle.

I was not there by that time, I had left for home from the bar, my brother was beaten up by illegal miners who followed him up after a drink, he was seriously injured and was dumped on the ground.

Nhlanhla sustained deep cuts on his head as a result of the attack and was taken to Mpilo. The brother also revealed that they were now waiting for X-rays to determine the extent of the damage suffered by Nhlanhla.

He is slowly getting well but he still needs to go for an X-ray, unfortunately, the service is currently not available at Mpilo and private doctors said they need $1 000.

Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

They were fighting over ladies of the night. We urge people not to resort to violence but rather deal with differences amicably.
