United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Saulos Chilima has come in the open saying he never dumped the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), saying they only parted ways.
In 2016 the state vice president announced that he has left the DPP as he felt not being need by some senior DPP officials whom he described ‘owners’ of the party.
In his remarks during an exclusive interview with one of the media houses yesterday, Chilima said he never really dump the blue camp only that they differed on some ways.
“I did not dump DPP, we just parted ways,” he clarified.
He further added that whatever happened in the past should remain in the past and it is time to move on.
“The fact that people are DPP does not mean they are my enemies,” he added.
Responding on the DPP-UDF alliance Chilima said there is nothing wrong with that since the two parties are exercising their right of association.
“The alliance is expression of freedom of association. It is part of democracy, therefore it is their right to associate,” he shared his views.
