Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) youth cadets on Wednesday evening went on rampage protesting against party official over failure to settle their allowances for participating in Justice Restoration demonstrations held in the capital Lilongwe.
The DPP youth cadets caused commotion at the gates of the Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe as some were seen pelting stones.
It took the intervention of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldiers to calm down the situation at the entrance.
Journalists from various media houses were also chased from the scene by unruly DPP youth cadets who were demanding allowances.
According to information at hand, the DPP cadets were promised MK2000 each after the peaceful march against the ruling of the Constitutional Court which nullified the May 21, 2019 Presidential polls.
The DPP cadets were ferried in Lorries from other districts to Lilongwe.
DPP cadets left the premises late at night after being given MK2000 each, according to an eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity.
