Police in Zomba have arrested a man for allegedly beheading 23 year old Hendrina Josia Wednesday morning at 3 Miles Sadzi Township.
The police have confirmed of the arrest and identified the suspect as Arthur Wanangwa Moyo from Ekwendeni 1 village, T/A Mtwalo in Mzimba District.
According to the police, the suspect has admitted to have murdered the woman.
“Now be informed that Arthur Wanangwa Moyo, D.O.B.: 27/07/1998 of Ekwendeni 1 village, T/A: Mtwalo, District: Mzimba who is a biological brother to the reporter has been arrested.
“Upon interviewing the suspect, he has revealed that he is the one behind this murderous act,” reads in part the police report.
Added the report: “He revealed that his first attempt was the use of poison whereby he mixed some medical drugs and motor vehicle oils which he did on Monday the 24th February, 2020 but did not work as the deceased and her husband did not die since they realized as soon as they started eating the poisoned food.
“On 26th February, 2020 it is when he decided to use a knife taking advantage that all the family members were out for work leaving behind the deceased and the suspect. Soon after killing her, he picked the deceased and placed her in a bathtub.”
“Thereafter he took two knives which he used in the commission of the crime, along with the utensils used to prepare the poisonous concoction and dumped them in a pit latrine and also dumped his blood stained clothes in a certain maize field within Sadzi location.”
The suspect will appear in court soon to answer murder charges.
