A man whose particulars not yet known has been killed in a road accident that occurred on Friday 28, 2020 near Red Cross offices in area 14 in Lilongwe.
Public Relations Officer for Lingadzi police told Mana Online that the accident involved a Motor vehicle registration number MZ 7165 Nissan Almeira driven by Mr Shafi Kananji 32 from Ndawala village, senior Chief Chikowi in Zomba and unknown male pedal cyclist who carried unknown male pillion passenger.
“On the material date, the said driver was driving the stated motor vehicle from the direction of Parliament round about heading area 18 round about along presidential road,” she said.
As he was approaching area 14 Junction, he collided with the unknown male pedal cyclist who carried the unknown male pillion passenger who were coming from the opposite direction joining the presidential road.
Following the impact, the pedal cyclist sustained head injuries and was taken to Kamuzu central hospital where he died whilst receiving treatment.
The pillion passenger sustained head injuries and he is receiving treatment at the same stated hospital.
The driver of the motor vehicle sustained a dip cut on his left leg.
The motor vehicle had its windscreen broken while bonnet and front bumper have been damaged.
