The Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) reveals it is making a follow-up with the police on delays to release findings of the Msundwe sexual abuse scandal.

MHRC investigations led by Ombudsman Martha Chizuma established that police officers raped 13 women, defiled one girl and sexually assaulted three under-18 girls during their October, 2019 operation around the area.

The report indicates the police officers committed the incidents as the women fled violent scenes.

National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera indicates that investigations are ongoing and they will inform the public once they are completed.
