A 14 year old boy has died after drowning in Lake Malawi in Karonga
Confirming the incident on Wednesday, Karonga police deputy spoke person flank black identified the boy as Christopher Mwanyongo.
The deceases went to swim at the lake with colleagues on martyr’s day before he drowned in the deeper waters of the lake
Black said police and community launched a search for his body and was found at around 10:00 pm at Mandala area near Blue beach.
The police deputy PRO said the body was taken to Karonga district hospital where post-mortem revealed death was due to suffocation secondary to drowning.
Meanwhile, police in the district are appealing to people around Karonga district and along the lake not to go swimming alone and avoid entering the lake while drunk.
Christopher Mwanyongo hailed from Mwambuli village in traditional authority Kyungu in Karonga.
