The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is scheduled to hold join public rally with the United Democratic Front (UDF) this coming Sunday at Njamba Freedom Park in the commercial capital Blantyre, Faceofmalawi can reveal.
The rally comes barely days after the two parties formed an alliance ahead of the fresh Presidential polls as ordered by the Constitutional Court on February 3, 2020.
According to information at hand, the rally will be graced by UDF President Atupele Muluzi and President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
Inside sources indicate that President Mutharika has offered Muluzi the runningmate post ahead of the fresh polls dumping Everton Chimulirenji who was his runningmate ahead of the May 21, 2019 tripartite elections.
The decision created some cracks in the ruling DPP as some top officials such as Kondwani Nankhumwa, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Bright Msaka and others were vying for the post after nullification of the polls.
Meanwhile it is yet to be seen if the alliance will save Mutharika’s sinking boat.
