The Governing Democratic Progressive Party’s Southern Vice President Hon Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also the minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, has pleaded with the DPP leadership and members of the party to seek God’s guidance and help on everything, if they’re to see victory ahead the fresh elections slated on 19th May 2020.

Nankhumwa was speaking at Njamba Freedom Park in Blantyre where for the first time DPP and UDF held their Joint Rally after coming out with the news of their Alliance.

He quoted Psalms 127 that says; “Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labour in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat– for he grants sleep to those he loves. Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him”. He went further to elaborate that; “we may have everything that physically proves we can win the fresh elections but if we don’t put God first and ask him for help, our efforts will be in vain.”

He pleaded with all party officials to allow love lead by forgetting and forgiving one another for any past mistakes and sour utterances; “We should also not allow greediness and selfishness to supersede us-let us be empathetic.”

Nankhumwa also appreciated His Excellency Prof for his many development projects taking shape in the country and how he has made DPP a popular and well loved party citing the recent victory of Pharaoh Kambiri who won the Liwawadzi Ward by-election in Balaka with a landslide victory.

He congratulated Mutharika for his great success in achieving great results in He/She Campaign awareness as he is among the Champions who are pioneering the initiative and on 8th March being International Women’s Rights Day.

He deserves a pat at the shoulder.

He finished by thanking the leadership of United Democratic Front-Right Honorable Austin Atupele Muluzi and their entire members for putting Malawi first and seeing the need to have a cordial relation with their party and he added, “Prof Mutharika is a tolerant and caring leader who believes in unity and love hence he has made sure to work hand in hand with the leadership of UDF for our Nation’s progress-this is unprecedented.”
