The High Court in Lilongwe has ordered that Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) Chairperson Timothy Mtambo should not be transferred to Blantyre once arrested.

HRDC National Coordinator, Luke Tembo has confirmed this but refutes reports that the arrested two human rights defenders, Gift Trapence and Reverend MacDonald Sembereka have been granted bail.

Meanwhile, Judiciary spokesperson, Agnes Patemba has also confirmed that the Court has ordered that Trapence and Sembereka be brought back to Lilongwe.

Meanwhile Timothy Mtambo has handed himself to area 3 police unit in the capital Lilongwe.

According to his Khwima Mchizi, the bail application will commence immediate after Mtambo gives his statement.

HRDC leaders are accused of inciting violence for mobilizing people to seal all State residences across the country with an aim of forcing President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to assent into law the three electoral bill passed by the National Assembly.
