CHITIPA – A teacher at Ilinga Private Secondary School in Chitipa district has left a note in which he has explained the reasons for his suicide by hanging.

According to Gladwell Simwaka, Public Relations Officer for Chitipa Police Station said the teacher has been identified as Said Mwanguku, aged 32, of Chibanda village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwenemisuku in Chitipa district.

“He left a suicide note in which he cited failure to stop his habit of excessive beer drinking as one reason that prompted him to hang himself.” Disclosed Simwaka

Simwaka said the teacher was found dead on Monday at his residence of Ishalikira village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwaulambia in Chitipa district.

“His body was found dangling in his bedroom. He was staying alone in the house since his wife stays at Kalenge in Misuku where she works.” Indicated Simwaka

According to Simwaka, postmortem conducted at Chitipa District Hospital showed that death was due to suffocation secondary to strangulation.

Simwaka has since said Police in the district are advising people to refrain from taking their own lives but rather should seek guidance from others whenever problems arise.
