Government, through the Ministry of Health has said it will start testing for Corona virus next month.

This was said yesterday by the Minister responsible Jappie Mhango in Blantyre, during a press briefing on countries preparedness for COVID-19.

According to Mhango, this will help to acquire test results quickly unlike right now when test can only be done in South Africa and results alive in the country after 48 hours.

“As a country, we are now moving towards a capacity that will help us to test for Corona virus, that is being done through a collaboration with our various partners WHO and others who are helping us to build capacity.

Currently we have the facilities in the country that can be used to test but all we are lacking is human capacity. Now we have our people being trained by the end of this month we should be able to test for Corona virus in the country,” said Mhango.

He added that currently, Malawi has not registered any corona virus case.
