Preliminary medical checks on Timothy Mtambo show that the Human Right Defenders Coalition chairperson fine, Faceofmalawi can reveal.
Mtambo last evening complained of not feeling well after he was made to sit on some “itchy” liquid stuff in a police vehicle assigned to move him to Maula prison from court.
The development forced HRDC members led by Billy Mayaya to sanction a medical team to examine the health condition of Mtambo.
HRDC Lawyer Khwima Mchizi confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).
“I can confirm that preliminary medical checks on Timothy Mtambo show that the HRDC chairperson is fine,” said Mchizi.
Writing on his official facebook page before the medical results Mayaya said he is happy that Mtambo is now feeling well.
“We thank God that Timothy Mtambo is feeling much better! Just waiting for results of toxicology tests!,” wrote Mayaya.
Meanwhile Lilongwe Magistrate Court is today expected to deliver its ruling on bail application made by lawyer for HRDC leaders.
