Leave alone women and children, it seems even the animals are not safe from sexual predators. In one such humanity shaming incident, a man was caught ‘raping’ a 9-month-old calf in Avanti Nagar area of Hyderguda in Hyderabad.
The matter came to light on Thursday after Narayanguda police arrested the accused identified as Mahesh.
According to a report in Times of India, Mahesh has been charged under section 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code. Police have sent the calf for veterinary examination. Mahesh was also sent for a potency test at Gandhi Hospital.
“I caught Mahesh red-handed while he was indulging in the criminal act. I immediately contacted police and also informed People For Animals and Greater Hyderabad Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals. The abuse of animals has been going on for years. We had informed the cattle shed owner but in vain,” the report quoted an eyewitness as saying.
“We have launched a probe into the incident and are trying to locate the cattle shed owner. The accused could be produced in court only after we receive the medical reports from the hospital,” said a police officer.
In May last year, a man was caught on CCTV camera raping cows at a shelter in Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh. The man was later arrested after the alleged crime. The accused was identified as Rajkumar, who hailed Nawabganj area of the Gonda district. He frequently visited the shelter in question.
The matter came to light after volunteers aiding with daily work of the Kartaliya Baba Ashram discovered CCTV footage showing an unknown man raping cows.
Later, the incident prompted the shelter volunteers to keep a close watch on the man. The accused then returned to the shelter and attempted to sexually assault the animals again. But he was caught by the volunteers who were already in wait for him. The man was brutally thrashed by the volunteers before he was handed over to the police.
