People’s Party (PP) Secretary General Ibrahim Matola told Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah to pack her ‘bras and underwear’s’ and leave the commission.
Matola said this in Blantyre at Mount Soche Hotel during National Elections Consultative Forum (NECOF) meeting where the commission is meeting with National Executive Committees (NEC) of different political parties.
Delegates present at the meeting took Matola to task and forcefully he apologized and withdrew his statement.
Aftermath of May 21, 2019 presidential polls different stakeholders have been calling for Ansah and all commissioners to step down by they have been reluctant.
During an exclusive interview with one media house in country Ansah clearly said that she will step down if the Constitutional Court ruled against their findings.
On February 3 when the Constitutional Court nullified presidential elections, Ansah did not do as promised hence pressure continued mounting on her to step down.
After Constitutional Court judgment Ansah made a U-turn saying she will step down if Supreme Court of Appeal rules against them as they have appealed against constitutional Court judgment.
